Christ’s Gracious True Love
He knew they were going to kill him. The Jewish religious elites( Pharisees, Sagicees, scribes, …). They basically had the Romans do it for them. Same difference.
And the “crowd” voted for that too, with encouragement from the religous elites.
So Jesus paid the price for the evil in all the peoples’ hearts. Those people deserve to die themselves for their murderous hearts. Am I wrong? If Jesus is God’s son why not just “kill” the bad guys because it’s the “righteous” thing to do? Instead Jesus paid off their sin debts, all of ours actually
Because Jesus came to model true love. True love never forces, scares, manipulates, etc… It doesn’t murder, or kill. Love isn’t real unless its given freely.
The True God, Jesus father is a just God. Which means wrongs must be reconciled for you to enter His heaven, ALL your wrongs.
Jesus died to show us TRUE LOVE is being willing to lay down your life for your friends. (John 15:13- Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. ). Loving them, even if they don’t deserve it, even if they tried to kill you. And sometimes maybe that love is telling them a hard truth, but speaking it in love ( Eph4:15).
This is the Jesus kind of love, of grace, un merited favor. He paid the price to reconcile our sin debts, all our wrongs. We just need to believe and turn from our ways of violence to his kind of love – grace.
That is the reason for the season, because of Jesus Grace
Honor him by giving grace, and see what he does.
